The Indian River School District will host a public meeting for senior citizens. The purpose of the meeting is to explain the district’s upcoming referendum and to highlight the various tax assistance programs available to seniors.
The meeting will be held in the school auditorium. District officials will give a presentation outlining the referendum initiatives and will explain the state and county property tax relief programs available to senior citizens. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The major capital improvement and current expense referendum is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5. The initiative will seek funding for the construction of a new Sussex Central High School, an eight-classroom addition at Indian River High School and a four-classroom addition at Selbyville Middle School. Residents will also be asked to approve funding for staff, curriculum, supplies, transportation and utility expenses for a high school and elementary school.
